Gurkas on Everest 2015

25 February 2015

On 29th January 2015 The Brigade of Gurkhas announced plans to summit Everest with an eight man team of serving Gurkhas.  The announcement, made at the Royal Geographical Society, is one of several events to commemorate two centuries of the Brigade’s service to the Crown.   Gurkhas have a long association of exploration of the Himalayas including involvement in the 1922 British Everest expedition. The summit team will be led by Captain Dick Gale and Major Andrew Todd, with base camp support being led by Captain Buddhi Bandhari.
